Three Volkswagen Crafters handed over to local charities
16 August 2016What do Masifunde, United Through Sport and The House of Resurrection Haven have in common?
Over and above the work they do to uplift and upskill children they are now proud users of three specially branded Volkswagen Crafter buses.
"Under the flagship Vokswagen for Good Campaign, we are focussing on Early Childhood Development and Volkswagen is proud to partner with charities that have the best interest of children at the core of what they do," said Volswagen Group South Africa Managing Director Thomas Schaefer.
The vehicles will be used by organisations to transport children and volunteers to attend events, schools and sporting clinics.
Although all three organisations are very different, they all have one common goal and that is to make life better for the children of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
Masifunde is a non profit organisation based in Walmer township and promotes arts and culture. It also provides children with a safe environment to finish homework and learn. Masifunde uses the crafter to transport children to school, art exhibitions and cultural events.
The House of Resurrection Haven is a homes-based care centre that looks after children infected with HIV/AIDS. The children are raised in a loving, secure environment that assists them in staying healthy. The crafter shuttles children to and from school.
United Through Sport is a sport coaching and life skills training organisation that uses sport to reach the youth. Their crafter transports volunteers and sporting equipment to coaching clinics in previously disadvantaged schools.
Volkswagen has been providing these organisations with the use of a crafter for the past five years.
"We review the sponsorship on an annual basis to ensure that the vehicles are being used for the benefit of the children. The sponsorship forms part of the Volkswagen for Good Campaign that supports charties which promote early childhood development. Volkswagen through the Volkswagen Community Trust will continue to support charities that focus on this, " said Nonkqubela Maliza, VWSA's Corporate & Government Affairs Director.
